Bouchra Jarrar for Lanvin SS17 – first impressions
Admittedly Bouchra Jarrar’s debut collection for Lanvin ss17 didn’t have the gasp factor of Raf Simons’ for Dior. But I still loved the overall direction. That’s easy because I like what Jarrar does anyway, and I’m more of a monochrome trousers girl, than a jewel-coloured dress girl (even though I adore Alber Elbaz).
Styling-wise, I agree some elements could be from any show (snazzed up pool slides? Not exactly ground breaking). But it’s early days and Jarrar is the type to evolve over time, than go in all guns ablazing. Here are some of my highlights…
By the way, did anyone else think there were shades of Chanel here? It was all very ‘New Garconne‘, although I swear to god I didn’t mean for my book release to coincide with Paris Fashion Week. But coincide it did, with this rather neatly timed ‘Governmental garçons’ article in The Guardian too…
