Secret shopping: 45R arrives in London
Japanese slow fashion brand, 45R has just opened its London outpost at 6 Brook Street, selling its cult denim, lived in knits and quilted outerwear. The Americans may be the originators but the Japanese are experts at producing artisan-quality denim that you’ll keep for years. (At 45R they hover between £350 and £800 which gives you an idea of the level of quality we’re talking about.)
I don’t own any 45R denim but I do have a coveted indigo t-shirt (from Mouki Mou) and a puffer scarf (from the New York store – Lauren Hutton was shopping there at the same time #humblebrag). The store is opposite Fenwick but is as discreet and beautifully put together as you’d hope.
As well as the aforementioned denim as seen on my fave Instagrammer Linda V Wright, the indigo quilted down jackets deserve a mention, alongside the tees and some rather special printed silk bandanas. In the little magazine they produce, you can see Ms Wright on the cover (below) and inside, busying about while channelling the spirit of Georgia O’Keeffe ( the 45R muse for the season).
The sales staff are lovely and super-chatty but when I asked if I could take pictures, there was a split-second pause and a flinch. It’s OK, I get it. They would rather people discover the store themselves rather than through PR or *shudder* a blog. So I’ve only shown the outside of the store. It’s definitely worth a visit though, I think you’ll like it.

Just seeing this!!! Thank you for caring and having confidence in me. I am in London for the day and will stop by and say hello to the staff. I LOVE 45_r. My go to for all their jeans and tee shirts (these I take from the men’s collection). Hugs to you, Sweetheart.
