Gentlewoman style: Uniqlo U AW17
The Uniqlo U AW17 collection has started to arrive in stores and online (the U.S has it already and the UK will get it at 8am on Thursday) and it’s always good to see how Christophe Lemaire marries classic ‘LifeWear’ with seasonal colours and silhouettes.
Even if you don’t think of yourself as someone who follows trends, there are always certain tendencies that capture the public’s imagination and take hold for more than a season. Volume and padded protection are two that have seen more than a couple of winters now. The beautiful Uniqlo U blue padded coat manages to look comfortable and luxe here; hopefully the same will be true IRL. The outerwear is definitely the strongest category from Uniqlo U; I also really like the hooded trench number and the double-face wrap camel coat.
Colour-wise, it’s about that rich camel, the rust reds, the deep blue and lots of cream and khaki. Again, these are classic neutrals that happen to be knocking about in fashion right now. Which is a good thing because if you like them, there are more of them around. Corduroy is another right-for-now trend that suits Uniqlo U and I can see these brick red cords selling fast. (Also worth noting: the stand collar long sleeve shirt dress from summer is back.)

I took a long excursion out to Virginia to try some of the JW Anderson stuff on and to return the Faire Isle cardigan which is too big. There is no downtown Uniqlo shop in DC (though a small store opening tomorrow at Union Station). Stacks of the JW Anderson available in the store including items sold out on-line. Bought the pin striped trousers and men’s multistriped jumper(last one). I noticed some Uniqlo U items but now wished I looked harder. Those fabulous cords are completely sold out on line and the merino ribbed dress. Uniqlo needs to get its store locations where people want to buy. And once again the sizing is completely random. Looked on-line the Uniqlo U goes on sale in Australian on 12th October – obviously summer. PS saw the Pyschedelic Furs on Wednesday – fantastic.

I think I am more excited about the Psychedelic Furs than Uniqlo at this point…!
But that is random. There is tons of it in London, including the rib dress. looks like they have ordered lots of stock.

Purchased satin crew neck tops in all colours which btw are good and reminiscent of 90s top I used to wear and the navy reversible padded coat – value for money – practical and cozy for the colder days.
