Cosy night in with Perfumer H
When it’s cold, dark and damp, there’s nothing more I want to do than cosy up by a fire, burrow under a blanket and surround myself with scented candles. I’m engrossed in Stephen King’s ‘On Writing’ and it’s the first time in ages I’ve been this absorbed in a book, it’s perfect for this time of year. (I tried The Girls in the summer and gave up after 50 pages.)
The most sensorial candles around right now are Perfumer H’s delicious offerings, in hand-blown jewel-coloured glass by Michael Ruh. They look good, they feel great and the smells are so nostalgic and comforting (I love Marmalade). They’re eco too, you can go in and get refills once you’ve used them all up.
The perfumes are equally lovely and beautifully presented in apothecary-style bottles that can be stamped with initials to personalise. Your perfume comes with smaller atomisers and a funnel, and as with the candle, when you’ve finished your bottle, you can get a refill (or just keep it and use as a vase).
I’m wearing Orange Leaf at the moment, a gently citrussy homage to the orange tree. The other new scents for autumn from Perfumer H are Ink (it initially smells of actual ink and then develops into something sweet and sultry), Rain Cloud, Patchouli H and Musk ( a very sophisticated cedar wood spiked musk).
And if you’re a cosy, mimimalist hygge (oops I said the H word) kinda girl, there’s a new candle collab just landed from Perfumer H and Cereal magazine. Called ‘Evening’, it’s a woody, wintry candle in a limited edition of 100, available from the Perfumer H store.
