London Fashion Week SS14: Day 1 highlights

My LFW day one highlight was also the event that took the most time. As media partner for Max Factor’s first ever London Fashion Week live make-up lesson on Google Hangout, I had a call time of 8am to do backstage beauty tweeting at Felder Felder.

For three hours I took notes from Max Faxtor make-up artist Mel Arter, tweeted and Instagrammed, updated the event page on Google Plus, then watched the show – a dreamy, underwater-inspired parade of mermaids with attitude.

Post show, Mel Arter and I jumped on a couple of VIP limo-bikes to whizz us to our Google Hangout studios. At 2pm we went live on air where I hosted a hangout in which Isabel Domeier from Felder Felder and Mel Arter discussed the look, Sarah Vickery from P&G answered questions about Max Factor’s new Whipped Creme foundation and Caroline Barnes gave us a live get-the-look make-up demo. What better way to bring London Fashion Week direct to the consumer?

This was my transport to the hangout (the bike, not the lorry). I have never been on a motorbike before and I can’t wait to go again…

Other highlights from day 1: the display of Antonio Lopez illustrations at the Roland Mouret store…

The Mulberry invitation – a darling miniature Wedgewood cup and saucer…

The BFC pop-up shop in the Somerset House courtyard. This is open to all and sells clothes from Lulu & Co, shoes from Sophia Webster, House of Holland’s nail collction, plus knits and candles from Bella Freud. Every day there will also be fun pop-up live appearances…

The Fohrcard soiree at Spring Studios. The schlep to Kentish Town in biblical rain was worth it for this cake-fest…(Fohr Card is a blogger directory co-founded by the former fashion dorector of Tumblr. It drills down into the stats across your digital platforms to hook you up with brands in a targeted way.)
