On my radar: Helle Mardahl

Helle Mardahl handblown glassware

I saw these delicious looking bulbous glass vessels on Atelier Dore’s Insta and had to find out more. They’re by artist and designer Helle Mardahl and the colours and shapes remind me of boiled sweets; playful but sophisticated at the same time. (In fact they’re inspired by Mardahl’s love of sweet shops as a child.) If I saw these in a shop I would immediately want to pick them up and I don’t think I’d be able to put them down again!

As well as glass vases, dishes and lidded jars, there are some beautiful little lamps. Unsurprisingly, it turns out that Copenhagen-based Mardahl actually has a fashion background. She graduated in fashion design from Central St Martins in London and I think you can see the fashion influence in her skill as a colourist. As much as I like the pops of pink and orange, the cooler clay colours are almost more appealing.
