Elizabeth Peyton at The National Portrait Gallery
Somehow I missed the memo that an Elizabeth Peyton National Portrait exhibition is happening. This year! In October! I love Peyton’s pop cultural portraits, there’s always something sensitive and a little bit awkward about them. Dries van Noten included some in his Paris ‘Inspirations’ exhibition in 2014 and I’ve seen previous shows at Sadie Coles and The Whitechapel. Her paintings are surprisingly small considering how impactful they are.
Here’s an interesting dilemma about the National Portrait Gallery though… [Update: dilemma solved. Well done NPG.]
