It’s merino season!
It’s sweater weather! Specifically Merino sweater weather, aka the lightweight, fine gauge knits that I stockpile from Cos and & Other Stories. Merino is not celebrated nearly enough imo; did you know that superfine Merino wool has been found to be therapeutic for eczema sufferers? The Woolmark Company alerted me to a British Journal of Dermatology study last year, which found that superfine Merino wool works as a ‘dynamic buffer’, helping maintain a more stable humidity and temperature in the micro-climate between the fabric and the skin, compared to cotton or other fabrics. Who knew?
In this season’s Merino news, it’s all about 3.1 Phillip Lim’s collab with The Woolmark Company, which officially launches this month (but some bits have dropped already). Basic it’s not. There’s an oversized puffer coat (below), a checked suit and a color-blocked panne-pressed trench, all incorporating Lim’s signature downtown luxe. Look out for it at Saks Fifth Avenue, Lane Crawford, Harrods, Selfridges, Net-a-Porter, ShopBop and Ssense.
