Use Hearing Protection- FAC 1 – 50 40 - Factory Records exhibition

September is shaping up to be a mammoth month for me. Not only have I got a big birthday coming up, but there are a couple of great book launches, a wee trip, and no shortage of excellent exhibitions.

This exhibition looks fab.

Use Hearing Protection: FAC 1 – 50 / 40‘ at Chelsea Space (next to Tate Britain) is curated by Jon Savage and Mat Bancroft and explores the audio visual work of the legendary Factory Records from 1978 to 1982. Artefacts on display will include works by Peter Saville, Joy Division, New Order, A Certain Ratio, Durutti Column and Linder Sterling. I’m totally here for the ‘rare and unseen materials from personal Factory archives’ mentioned on the website.

I’m obsessed with micro generations at the moment and I feel like 78-82 was a significant snapshot in time for me, musically and ‘fashion-ally’! So this is right up my street. If you don’t follow Jon Savage on Instagram already, I recommend him; he makes great music recommendations.

Use Hearing Protection: FAC 1 – 50 / 40
is at Chelsea College of Arts, 16 John Islip St, London SW1P 4JU from 13 September – 26 October, 2019
