London Fashion Week AW11: Charles Anastase
That Charles Anastase is a bit of a whizz with a coat isn’t he? Continuing the youthful nostalgia tip of DAKS and Orla Kiely, he presented a megamix of his signature looks, showing great variations on the pleatback, half belted outerwear in mohair, ponyskin and Scottish tweed. Some may tire of his French faux-naive aesthetic but I’m not there yet. Short-waisted, girlish dresses were classic Anastase, offset by Natacha Marro’s highly lethal wedge booties. For evening, floor length dresses rustled in stiff duchesse satin, their 70s prom prettiness emphasised by brushed-out fuzzy hair adorned with jewelled barrettes.
