What I’m watching: Joe’s Film
This delightful film about Azzedine Alaia is currently doing the rounds on Instagram.
Shot over the course of a few years by super-stylist Joe McKenna, ‘Joe’s Film’ is an intimate portrayal of the designer who eschews the corporate fashion system and its layers of stress and seasonal churn.
As McKenna tells the New York Times, “it’s very much one person’s hand and one person’s mind. There are no teams of people. There are no reference books or vintage clothes. I don’t think Azzedine would even know what a mood board is.”
My favourite moment is Azzedine catwalking (or dogwalking?) to David Bowie with his massive St Bernard, Didine at the end of the film. And don’t miss Nicolas Ghesquiere, boyishly handsome and utterly charming…

Such a gift you have given me today, sharing this lovely film. I have loved Azzedine from the first time I saw his work although I couldn’t have explained why. This film helps me understand my innate love for him and his work. Blessings.
