Gentlewoman style: Bally AW14
Can we take a minute to appreciate the new-look Bally, under the creative direction of Pablo Coppola? Emphasising the Bally ‘codes’ of precision and craftsmanship, there’s a focus on grown up wardrobe staples with a slightly relaxed flair – tailored trousers, boxy handbags, mannish coats, boyfriend shoes…
The ‘gentlewoman’s corner’ bag is my favourite, with its lopped-off corner. It mimics what’s known as a ‘gentleman’s corner’ on the heel of a traditional man’s dress shoe, designed so a gentleman’s trouser leg doesn’t catch. (Who knew… have a look next time you’re in a posh men’s shoe shop.)
The styling and casting of the look book is classic but strong, who can resist Emma Balfour in her beanie and the slightly crazed look in Kirsten Owen’s eye…? If you want to see more, do check out lovely Shini’s behind-the-scenes pics on her blog…

Wow – I want it all! Love the “gentlemen’s corner” info – I hadn’t come across that before – am heading to a posh man’s shoe shop now to check it out!
