Polished peasant shirt

I’ve been tasked by a fellow blogger with finding a more affordable dupe of my beloved Atlantique Ascoli peasant shirts. There aren’t many to be found because part of the cost of an Ascoli (around £500) is due to their fabrics – starched bright white custom-made cottons. And they’re fairtrade too.

But I did come across some great polished peasant shirts on my press day rounds. Whistles and Toast in particular tick the boxes for a relaxed shape with enough sophistication to keep them out of sloppy boho territory. (Tip: make sure you iron them.) They’ll be dropping in stores in the coming weeks. & Other Stories is another good call for elevated peasant blouses that hover around the £50 mark. If you have more to spend, Isabel Marant, A.W.A.K.E and Frame are worth a look too.

The trick to keeping things polished is what you wear it with. So tailored trousers, smart boots and a standout watch (a red Hermes Medor?!) would be my choice.
