Nail news: Hello Kitty, MAC, Estee Lauder, Butter London

ESTEE LAUNDER PURE COLOUR BEYOND BLACK AND METAL MANIA
It’s official, the whole world has gone nail polish crazy. Estee Lauder has responded to the ‘nail polish index’ (didn’t Leonard Lauder coin the phrase ‘lipstick index’?) by really pushing its nail polish offer. New from Estee Lauder Pure Color is creative director Tom Pecheux’ homage to Paris at night. There are two collections; Metal Mania and Beyond Black. I tried Viper (above left) from the Beyond Black range which is the most dramatic, dense, inky bottle green. I’m really into ‘almost’ colours for winter, especially bluey blacks and this incredible witchy shade, which will look great on short nails worn with my candyfloss pink Helmut Lang sweatshirt. I have to say I love the ice-cube style design of Estee Lauder nail polish bottles. These are on sale nationwide at £14.50.

MAC EXPANDS NAIL COLOURS
Another new nail launch comes from MAC which has created its first full nail lacquer range with 31 strong colours in three finishes (cream, frost and glitter). They retail at £10 and are available in all the stores and online.

BUTTER LONDON LAUNCHES LIPPY
New from Butter London is its Lippy collection of highly pigmented lip glosses to match the nail colours. I like my lip gloss super, super sheer (I currently have Chanel Chelsea and Bobbi Brown Cosmic Pink on rotation) but I gave this fuchsia one a go and was instantly converted. Admittedly, I wear mine blotted to practically nothing but the consistency is fantastic and I find it leaves a lovely stain that lasts all day without drying. (I add a coat of the aforementioned Bobbi gloss for extra shine). Oh, this also has an intoxicating watermelon fragrance. And obv you can have matching nails too. SUPERDRUG LAUNCHES HELLO KITTY NAIL COLOURS
Finally, for a packaging freak like me, the news of Superdrug‘s exclusive Hello Kitty nail colour launch is exciting indeed. At £4.99 I can’t vouch for the quality but there certainly looks like masses of fun to be had, if only from just playing with the bottles. It’s out in October.
