Michael Clark: Cosmic Dancer at The Barbican
Michael Clark: Cosmic Dancer at The Barbican looks amazing. Frieze has a deep dive on the choreographer’s retrospective (read it here), and you’ll want to get in early with your ticket booking – social distancing an’ all that…
I’ve already been trawling YouTube and found the incredible video that Frieze writer Brian Dillon references of Clark’s dancing to T Rex’s Cosmic Dancer on an Italian TV show. Watch it here and prepare to be spellbound. And this Hail The New Puritan film is surely a taste of what’s to come at The Barbican.
A key part of Clark’s appeal for me (besides his moves and devastatingly gorgeous face) were his Body Map costumes. I’m hoping for a lot of these in the show and that they will inspire a new generation of creatives.
Michael Clark: Cosmic Dancer is at The Barbican from Wed 7 Oct 2020 – Sun 3 Jan 2021
