Hats: An Anthology by Stephen Jones
Not having tickets for Pam Hogg and not wanting to waste time begging fruitlessly to be admitted, we chose instead to catch the last half hour of the Hats: An Anthology by Stephen Jones press preview. What a treat! The exhibition is beautifully curated so do give yourself plenty of time to soak it all up. The hats are divided into themes and in the middle of the space Stephen Jones has installed a replica of his own mad hatter’s hub, full of fantastical hats, blocks, sketches, feathers and other materials and ephemera. This has to be is my favourite bit. There are videos dotted about, such as ‘Making a hat’ by Deborah Miller as well as a little interactive area for trying on hats – ooh fun! It’s also nice to see newer milliners being given exposure such as my favourite, Soren Bach with his multicoloured fur pompom hat.
Spoiler alert! If you’re planning on visiting the exhibition anytime soon, look away now…

Those pompoms are fun, impossible not to smile when you look at it!
It sounds like a fantastic collection, I’ll have to try and find time to get down there!

I’m not a typical hat person. Never wear it. Yet I think that hats are oh-so beautiful. There is something about them, an air of old glamor and style.
