Beauty buy: Elemental Herbology Purify & Soothe Cleansing Balm
Joining the family of posh cleansing balms on the side of my bath tub is Elemental Herbology’s Purify & Soothe Cleansing Balm. The best way to use this, I have discovered, is to rub a small blob between dry palms and as you massage into your skin, stop to cup your hands over your face so you can inhale the heady essential oil scent of chamomile and frankincense. It’s all part of the relaxing ritual that makes nighttime cleansing a treat, not a chore.
Also, you know what else this balm is great for? Removing eye makeup. Gently work in around the eye area, then use a warm flannel (I use mine hot, you’re not meant to but it’s sooo good) or muslin cloth to carefully rinse away without dragging the skin. Finish with a splash of cold water. You won’t need a second application, the rich balm will do all the work, leaving your pillows mascara free.
The down side? This balm comes in a 75ml tube for £28 (from Elemental Herbology or Space NK). I know tubes are more hygienic than pots but they’re a faff to use and there’s always that bit at the end that you know is in there but won’t come out. That said, you’re likely to use less from a tube; I know that with my Ren balm I use far more than I need because it’s such a big tub.
For those who care about such things, this balm is 100% free of mineral oils, synthetic colour and fragrance, sulphates and paraben preservatives. And Elemental Herbology doesn’t test on animals.
