New in: tech-cessories

Wow, the tech-cessories just keep on coming… Harvey Nichols has taken delivery of a whole host of Marc by Marc Jacobs gadgets, including laptop cases, headphones, iPhone covers and these wee speakers with a USB port to attach to your phone or iPod (£55)

Will the iPad be this Christmas’s sell-out item? The iPad case manufacturers certainly hope so. Some luxe sleeves on the market include Chris & Tibor’s glossy animal-print case and Ferragamo’s lush leather offering.

I don’t have an iPad but if I did I wouldn’t hesitate to encase it in one of Smythson’s many new iPad cases – preferably one in sunny yellow snake-print…

And in case you were wondering, Jimmy Choo’s iPad cases (part of their newly expanded luggage and handbag offer) arrive in February. Finally, make Net-a-Porter.com your go-to site for slick tech toy covers. My favourite is this exclusive Alexander McQueen laptop case which arrived for me out of the blue this week. Thanks Netaporter!

I don’t want diamonds, I want Lanvin

Ah, the vid is a joy to watch, but the real thing is even better. Saturated colour, frou-frou cuts and ridiculously girly accessories, it’s all present and correct at Lanvin for H&M. UK details: The stores open at 9am on November 23rd but you can shop online from 7am. There is womenswearwear, menswear, shoes, accessories and even four sweetly packaged lipsticks (the cheapest item at £7.99)…

Library corner: Orla Kiely’s Pattern and i-D Covers

If you’re struggling for an affordable Christmas pressie for a designer, textile obsessive or all-round-creative type, then here’s an idea. Orla Kiely will be signing copies of her book, Pattern from 6pm on 10th November at Selfridges, Oxford Street. Covering everything from starting up a business to sourcing ideas to art directing shoots, this tome is a great read as well as a wonderful picture reference source.

If you’re not down with Kiely’s feminine, post-modern, aesthetic (what’s wrong with you!), then cast your eye over Taschen’s new book of i-D covers.  Featuring every cover from the magazine’s inception in 1980, it also offers behind the scenes insights from i-D’s editors,  contributors and friends. You can browse through here.

Heels on wheels

Now I’ve seen everything…

New on Supermarket Sarah’s wall is a curated feast by Garudio Studiage, a collective of artists/designers/prop-makers. Of course, my favourite piece is Hannah Havana’s haute skates, made as a prop for a shoot. These particular ones are purely for posing but wearable versions can be made to order. Eek, people really skate in these? Brave.

Oh la la, it gets better! Susan just sent me the link to this shoe car
