Fantasy hybrid: FitFlop meets brothel creeper
I have heard so much about the benefits of FitFlops that when I was offered a free trial, I couldn’t say no. I can’t get on with toe posts so I opted for a sandal style FitFlop that reminded me of those Reef Brazils in the 90s.
The shoes are certainly extremely comfortable. The problem is, in order to enjoy their workout benefits, you need to wear them for proper outside-the-house walking, not just shuffling from one room to another – they’re not slippers. However, therein lies the problem – they’re just so aesthetically displeasing, there’s no way I could be seen dead in them. Solution? I propose a fantasy hybrid. I don’t see why we can’t marry the technology of a FitFlop with the design of something cool like a brothel creeper. You have the chunkiness of the sole right there, just add a pointy upper, some snazzy detailing and you’re good to go. How about it Marcia?

Have you seen the Autumn boots and baseball type Fitflops? They really aren't horrible at all. I do agree – Brothel Creepers would be excellent.

Haha – so true, they are absolutely hideous.
I've seen the trainers that they've recently come up with which look 10x better… far more acceptable!

Good idea and rightly you couldn't be seen dead outside with those on!

LOL, LOL!! I was offered a pair to trail too, but my god there was not one pair I would be seen dead in. Although they aren't as bad as the Sketchers and MBT trainers. With a wide legged pant maybe you could hide them. I would love to see a brothel creeper hybrid!!

I actually think the are pretty cool and I bought a pair. They are great for my commute, and look a bit like Comme de Garcons.

Though the black color is common I like to wear footwear of black color. It suites well on me and fitflops are the most favourite of mine because they are very comfortable.

It cracks me up when people use my blog as a free advertising space for their products! (Yes you, 'Lorna Morris')

I think this is a brilliant idea. I bought a pair of fit flops knowing full well I'd never be caught dead in them outside my house…. but then I ended up not wearing them inside either. Hmmm.

I’m with the comment about channeling Comme Des Garcons. The Roma is – in fact- my favourite FitFlop sandal. It’s stripped back mid-nineties Anne Demeulemeister chic, and looks absolutely brilliant with a pair of cuffed jeans and a white t-shirt of almost any description, as long as the wearer is sporting a decent haircut.(If you’ve got a perm… I would agree, they will be unforgiving.) Love the brothel creeper. Quite Robert Clergerie, who has also done some brilliant things in his time. Keep the suggestions coming, and give the Roma a go.
