National Jewellery Week: friendship bracelets
It’s National Jewellery Week and everywhere I look there are articles on baubles, bangles and bling. Even the guys are non-exempt – witness Charlie Porter’s piece on businessmen in bracelets in the FT.
Well, I love a bit of wrist-candy and have some extra space on mine as my beloved Hermes Medor watch has a broken neck and has been sent to the Hermes hospital for surgery. Disaster!
Here are some of the luxury friendship bracelets I’m eyeing up:
Shashi ballerina bracelet, £62, Kabiri
Silk bracelets, 45 euros, Vadi Jewels
Philip Crangi/Michael Bastian gold and leather bracelet, £49.55, Colette
Dana Levy, satin cord horseshoe bracelet, £28, Liberty
And I’m still pining for a carbon copy of my long-deceased Van Rycke bracelet…

I had one of Dana Levy's bracelets last year, made of red leather, with a Hand of Fatima charm on it. But very quickly the whole thing fell apart… I don't know if the satin ones are as weak as the leather pieces, but personally, I'd steer clear…

Ah, I love Dana Levy's bracelets!
Thanks for getting back to me on the press days, I'll definitely get on that.
P.S. Caryn was sooo nice, you're so lucky to have had her teach you, where did you study?

Out of curiosity, this new high-end friendship bracelet jewellery trend, are people buying them for themselves? My inner 11 yr old thinks its pathetic to buy your own friendship bracelets (like duh, what is the point??) but the rest of me wants one/lots…

Chuck, I'm totally buying for myself. They're not really friendship bracelets, just in the style of…

That's a good idea! Maybe I can fob aforementioned bossy inner 11 yr old off with that and get myself the ballerina bracelet…
