Buy it now: Miss Selfridge’s ‘forever’ dress
New in at Miss Selfridge is their most expensive dress ever. I first glimpsed this beaded coral gown at a preview in June and nearly fell at its feet. I’m very fussy about high street eveningwear (or high street any wear for that matter) as the cut and fit never seem to be quite there. But today I saw it for the third time and I really think it’s worth the £225 price tag.
The cut is immaculate, helped by the weight of the beadwork which gives it extra drape. It has a dramantic, plunging V back, yet a highish neckline and long sleeves for the perfect 50/50 prude-vamp ratio. The colour is a nice change from black, gold, red, plum *insert cliche party-wear colour here* and it’s a dress that you can actually move in, thanks to the fishtail pleating at the hem.
Miss Selfridge are taking a bit of of a risk with this dress as it’s quite a departure from their usual price point but as it’s such a classic, a ‘forever’ dress if you will, I can’t see stocks lasting. (Interested? You can buy it here.)

Wow. It looks like perfect 1930s vintage. Good tip, I'm going to inspect it, thanks.

That IS a lot more than their usual price, but if the quality is there I have no issue with that (unlike Topshop who seem to be pushing prices up purely because they are now perceived as 'cool'). It looks quite Ossie-ish, look forward to seeing someone wearing it.

hmm. I can't imagine that your average miss selfridge customer could afford it but I look forward to seeing adult/wage earning fashion types in the store. Hard to tell whether the quality meets the price tag (which while cheap for serious evening wear is definitely not cheap for high street) online. I wonder how many stores will stock it and in what quantity…

Wow, what a beautiful dress and such a lovely description.
Very not like the usual Miss S evening attire! x
