Vogue Paris cover: timeless or lazy?
I just clocked this Vogue Paris November cover. Well, I can’t tell whether it’s old or new. It’s got a slightly muted quality and the ‘girls’ are in standard ‘classic Vogue cover’ uniform of 501s and white shirt – a look we’ve seen a million times (and I personally never tire of). Daria, Stephanie and Lauren could all be in their 30s-40s and going by hair, make-up, styling, lighting, even the colour of the coverlines, this could be from any time between the late 80s and now. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Is it classic, or lazy and a bit predictable? I haven’t made my mind up but my instinct says it’s timeless and beautiful. What do you think?

I think it’s a classic and I also never tire of 501’s and a white shirt. I have to agree that this look is timeless and also beautiful and age range of thee three women shouts style.

They all look great but I think it was lazy styling and I would hav preferred to have seen them dressed in couture after all it is a Fashion Magazine!

Much as I love jeans/a white shirt/Lauren Hutton have to say it feels a bit tired. (And reminds me of the sort of thing I had to do back in the day, ahem!)

I find it classic and refreshing. At a time when it feels as though we’re constantly bombarded with more more more, I think this reminder of “less is more” is not only an elegant fashion statement, but something we could all think about in this tumultuous global economy, and in our divisive tendencies to mask and spin.
To me, this is a reminder that simple, essential, clean and elegant win the day. Extravagant loses its impact when it becomes the “norm.”

It’s a beautiful cover and an inspiration for stylish daily dressing but I would have liked to have seen something a little fiercer. It is Vogue Paris after all.
