As I never tire of saying, I’m not the biggest online shopper. The reasons are many but in a nutshell:
*I live in London. We have Harvey Nichols, The Shop At Bluebird, Portobello Market et al
*I work in fashion, ergo I like to shop on the hop, browsing in stores on my daily beat
*I’m freelance and despite some people’s conclusions, I don’t sit at home in front of a screen all day so I’m not always in to receive parcels (more…)

Extended until 28th April 2012: Paolo Roversi at the Wapping Project Bankside
Situated five minutes from Tate Modern, the photography outpost of The Wapping Project hosts Roversi’s first UK solo exhibition. It’s not big but there are enough pictures of Guinevere and ‘portraits’ of Roversi’s lights, tripod and blanket backdrop to satisfy you if you’re a fan of his poetic, minimalist aesthetic. (more…)



The secrets of window display…from Hermes and Chanel

Anyone interested in brand communications, visual merchandising or Hermes should watch this excellent video from Imagine Fashion. It features Leila Menchari, creative director of Hermes’ windows (since 1977) interviewed by IF’s fashion features editor Godfrey Deeny. Her poetic descriptions of her work for Hermes and the art of window display are fascinating. Here’s the trailer…

Hermes pop-up scarf boutique at Harrods



If this year wasn’t all about extravagant scarf prints, next year certainly will be. If you’re going to buy a posh silk scarf, you might as well make it an Hermes one and to entice you even more, Hermes has set up a special pop-up scarf boutique at Harrods (in the Room of luxury 2 on the ground floor) where every Wednesday and Friday afternoon between now and 2nd January 2012, you can learn how to tie a scarf like a pro.
