TORY BURCH BEAUTY IS GROWING

Tory-Burch-lipsticks

The Tory Burch empire continues to expand. This summer sees sixteen shades of lipstick added, an upgrade on the signature pinky nude shade. Also joining the Tory Burch Beauty family: a bath/shower gel, a body lotion and a body cream, all lightly infused with the citrus floral notes of the Tory Burch fragrance. Buy the lipsticks at the Tory Burch store in Bond Street and the body products at Harrods. (more…)

THE DRG STYLE INDEX: LA GARCONNE, HERMES, LONGCHAMP, SHINOLA

Here’s the latest weekly DRG STYLE INDEX ranking, featuring the brands currently buzzing on on my radar…

1. LA GARCONNE DOES BRICKS AND MORTAR

La-Garconne-Store-TriBeCa

Somehow this passed me by, but one of my favourite etailers has gone over to the B&M side. La Garconne, the purveyor of perfectly judged boyish womenswear has opened a physical store in TriBeCa, selling its covetable mix of Margiela, Acne Studios and The Row. Message to La Garconne: London needs you! (more…)

Gentlewoman style: how to wear primary colours

Gentlewoman-style-Primary-Colours

Summer is when I get (a little bit) more adventurous with colour so I’m well into all the primary brights we’re seeing popping up everywhere. Rich royal blue is an easy choice for the colour-shy as it’s almost a neutral so I’d wear that in a bomber jacket or rain mac (I’m currently looking for the perfect single-breasted mac).

My manicure of the moment is Estee Lauder’s Pure Colour in Impassioned, a candy apple red that can skew either formal or casual. I also can’t get enough of Kelly green, especially in a fun print (hello Mother Of Pearl shorts), while a sunny shade of yellow lends itself beautifully to accents – this jolly Fendi key fob for example.

Finally, thank you Keep It Chic for alerting me to Tomas Maier’s Cruise 15 collection. You can’t buy it now but as inspiration for a relaxed red suit, it serves very nicely…

Introducing the DRG STYLE INDEX: Celine, Hermes, Harrods, Uniqlo

Introducing the DRG STYLE INDEX, a ranking of the brands on my radar each week. In order of impact, these are the brands grabbing my attention right now…

1. CELINE’S RETAIL WOW FACTOR

Celine-store-mount-street-telegraph

My first foray into the Mount Street store (above). Um, wow. The smell! The flooring! The merch! The ratio of sales staff to customer (3-1 on my visit)! At the till, mulling over a two-tone luggage Tote, was a Ghanian lady in full Vlisco-print gear, including headwrap. Oh to photograph her printed skirt against the patchwork marble floor tiles… But alas no, I got the feeling it’s a No Photos kind of store… (more…)
