What’s new at Margaret Howell for AW16? Lots actually. Shirt collars are super-pointy, winter shorts are a thing, there’s a crepe-soled brogue, and orange is the colour – in raffish crumpled silk. I also love the floppy neck bows and the ankle-grazing trouser length. Can I add that I have one of those slim black leather belts and I wear it with everything. So an Alexander McQueen biopic has been announced which should be very interesting. I can’t imagine it’s an easy film to get made, so many people to keep happy. Haters gonna hate but I’m still loving Alessandro Michele’s Gucci.
There are some strong signatures coming through – the glamorous glasses, pyjama piping, ultra-fine suiting and semi-flared trousers, plus of course the gobstopper rings and reimagined loafers of every permutation. And for AW16 I love the high-crowned hats and leather bombers. (more…)
