Oops I did it again

Doh, I bought another bag! I don’t know how it happened…OK I lie, I know exactly how it happened. I saw this bag in The Shop At Bluebird a few weeks ago. Alas it was in the region of £200 so back on the shelf it went. Until Saturday. There was I, browsing in the sale and there was my bag, reduced to £60! I stroked it, I sniffed it (leather, yum), I tried it on. All good. I ummed and aahed. I have so many bags, why this one? Well, I have found with the supersize bags that another smaller shoulder bag is needed to accommodate the easy access stuff. Phone, pen, purse, etc. And yet I have two of those already. In tan and camel. This one is black, I told myself, that makes it different. What convinced me in the end was that it was slightly bigger than the other two so will also carry my umbrella. Sold! The bag is by Avril Gau (www.avrilgau.com) who I’ve never heard of but I like discovering new labels. I was the first to say the It Bag trend has had it’s day but hey, I can change my mind, right? Two other new bag labels to love:
*Boyybag (http://www.boyybag.com/shop_online.html) – fabulous squashy outsize numbers, big in Hollywood
*Tila March (http://www.tilamarch.com/press.html) expandable utility totes in an array of understated colours

Sayonara?

This blogging lark can be hard work, no? Sometimes you can’t get inspired, other times you have the ideas but not the time to formulate them into coherent words. It’s got to be worked at but I enjoy the satisfaction of it and the discipline. And mostly I enjoy reading all the other blogs. But suddenly they’re all dropping like flies! Janet at Je Ne Sais Quoi (http://allthingsstyle.blogspot.com/) can’t commit anymore, Styleaholic’s given up the ghost also (http://styleaholic.blogspot.com/).

I say to anyone else who’s finding it tough, bear with it, go with the flow. Take time out if you must dammit, but DON’T GIVE UP! I need my blogs!

Aplogies for the random pic. I nicked it from http://blushing-apples.blogspot.com/, couldn’t resist…

Hate Uniqlo, love it’s new campaign

I don’t know why but I just don’t get Uniqlo. It’s a bit like M & S, everyone else raves about those fabulous finds but for me it’s Not Quite There. Yet even I have to hold my hand up and say its new T-shirt campaign rocks big time. UT is a new concept celebrating the T-shirt. Uniqlo has opened a concept store in Japan and enlisted a host of in-the-loop scenesters including Peter Saville, Gareth Pugh and Kim Jones to design a limited edition tee (yes, yawny idea but good choice of people). Not only that but king-of-cool Terry Richardson has been enlisted to shoot the tees which are modelled by the likes of Missy Rayder, Alison Mosshart and Terry himself. Now if that’s not fantastic marketing I don’t know what is.

The recent menswear shows have piqued my interest especially since menswear seems to be becoming more and more feminised. High street stores like TopMan, River Island and New Look have become so much more adventurous in their offerings in recent seasons that if they played their cards right and made more smaller sizes they could probably double their sales by selling to women. I love the androgynous look anyway but am especially feeling this outfit by Burberry Prorsum.
