On my Radar: 19/99 Beauty

19/99 Beauty

While everyone else has gone nuts for Y2K style, I’m more than happy sticking to my failsafe 90s beauty classics. New in at Cult Beauty* is this very cool brand, 19/99 Beauty, which to me embodies the glamorous minimalism of 90s Helmut Lang and Jil Sander.

Billed as unprescribed beauty essentials that narrow the generational beauty gap, the product range is edited but versatile. As a texture nut, I can vouch for the wonderfully smooth, intensely pigmented Precision Colour Pencils* (£19, below) and the High-shine Gloss* (for eyes, lips and cheeks, £18). You can blend the gloss with a pencil for diffused colour and extra shine – which is exactly how I wear make up.

The packaging is also wonderful, with something of an early MAC graphic vibe in its clean 1990s fonts. I also appreciate its anti-ageist messaging, with products shown looking great on a variety of women (with upper lip lines unretouched). And my products – press samples – arrived with a card that explains in simple terms all the ways you can use the items. Straightforward and to the point – perfect.
