My kinda shop: Shreeji News

Shreeji News Chiltern Street

Finally, a small crumb of good news on the magazine industry front. One of London’s best loved magazine sellers has had a revamp, pivoting away from just selling international magazines to include a downstairs salon, reading room and event space, plus a coffee and pastry bar.

Obviously there are social distancing measures in place for now, but Shreeji News, a stalwart of Marylebone’s Chiltern Street since 1982 is to be applauded for innovating in the print media retail realm. I try my best to buy magazines and newspapers from the indie and specialist guys rather then Tesco or Sainsbury’s. There’s a much better selection and these guys have had it tough. And honestly, what could be a better combination than magazines and coffee? How this pans out in a post-Covid reality, I’m not sure but hopefully there will be some magazines left to buy.
