According to The Industry, people are still buying luxury fashion online.
I’m surprised, but maybe they’re taking advantage of the excellent deals on investment pieces, which I’d recommend if you’re in a position to do so. Any classic items I’ve bought from luxury brands have 100% earned their keep; they last for ages and seem to retain that ‘new’ look for so much longer. So even if you end up on an austerity shopping ban, high quality items you’ve bought years ago will serve you better than fast fashion pieces.
My Mackintosh Culrain puffer jacket* I bought before Christmas has gone everywhere with me this winter and still looks fresh out of the carrier bag. Their fabrications are superb and their products are made in Japan, Scotland and England which contributes to the high retail price.
However, Mackintosh currently has 20% off its SS20 collection and sale items until 12th April with the code MCKSPRING20*. If you’re not familiar with the brand, it’s an original heritage raincoat brand, so it excels in outerwear (although the bags and RTW are also great). Mackintosh frequently collaborates with the best designers, including Jil Sander, Maison Margiela and Alyx, so if you like deconstructed classics and are in the market for a new coat or mac that won’t date, then here’s your chance.
