I would call this a single breasted mac. Burberry is calling it a car coat. Either way, I like it, especially with the looser, more casual styling that Burberry’s gone for here. It’s less high fashion and more girl-on-the-go and this soft ‘tumbled gabardine’ reminds me of all the vintage Burberry macs I used to love before Burberry went posh.
This voluminous cut works perfectly with layers of knitwear in our godawful winter weather. The longer style is called the Brighton extra long car coat (pictured here) and there’s also a shorter style, called the Camden long car coat. Confusing much?
I’m also a fan of these buckled boots (although if you baulk at £850, Topshop’s Alfie boots do a similar job at £89).
