Blaze Milano

Last week I rediscovered a ten-year-old Helmut Lang blazer in my wardrobe that I don’t think I’ve ever worn because it always felt slightly too big. When I tried it on this time, it fitted perfectly (I just think the sleeves need a tiny alteration) and the structure of the shoulders really makes an incredible difference if you have a tendency to slouch from hunching over your phone. You can see why well-tailored suits are empowering for city workers, they’re almost like a regimental uniform that makes you stand up straight as a pin.

I first wrote about Blazé Milano two years ago and I still think they have captured a niche of classically tailored yet individual-looking investment blazers. Matches Fashion has just unveiled a trunk show of ten exclusive Blazé Milano pieces that you can check out here. The interview trunk show concept is quite cool, with the three Italian founders (equally cool – they met working together at Italian Elle) talking about the idea behind the brand and the inspiration for this capsule line that takes cues from English, French and Italian style. Although I love the 70s dash of the elongated corduroy numbers, I think the tweedy herringbone is the more timeless investment.
