First look at Raf Simons’ vision for Calvin Klein AW17. The first look that came out was perfection, a red-white-and-blue ensemble of red piped flat-front pants with blue tucked-in felted shirt and white poloneck, plus steel-capped cowboy boots. Very clean, direct and optimistic in its message. The show continued in a similar vein, an ode to American classics, including artisanal quilting inside parka jackets, Ralph-Lauren-meets-Helmut-Lang double-breasted camel coats, (more…)

So even though I liked the Gap normcore campaign, it turns out the public didn’t. But that hasn’t stopped Gap trying to channel its normcore heritage one more time to engage a younger generation of customer.
This time it’s youthful 90s normcore which makes much more sense. (more…)
Fashion Month is upon us and one of my favourite elements is all the backstage photography. So much more atmospheric than the front-on catwalk shots we’re used to, no? Elise Toïdé is one of the photographers who excels in this reportage style. (And she took the photos for the Paris-based women in my book.) Elise is great at capturing a sense of intimacy, even in chaotic surroundings. (more…)
