According to some research I’ve been doing for a report, young Chinese luxury consumers don’t really wear home grown designers, they prefer the better known status labels like Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Chanel. However, things are changing fast. Yoox has just launched a capsule collection of pieces by five local designers to sell on the Chinese version of its high end site, The Corner. The Chinese are huge web consumers and love to research brands online before buying so this is the perfect way for new Chinese designers to get exposure. Curated by Vogue China, the collection includes designs by emerging labels, Ricostru, Zé and Uma Wang.
