The wedding photos they didn’t want you to see

I’ve managed to steer clear of you-know-who’s wedding up until now but I couldn’t resist this wedding-related post. Photographer Jean-Christian Bourcart worked in a photo studio during his early years during which time he amassed quite a collection of unsold out-takes.

“I was like an archeologist, patiently digging through the strata of this collective memory. I put together my own album. It told the story of a hybrid family, a bit strange, perhaps, but deliberately chosen nonetheless, a narrative that was funny and innocent and sometimes tragic, which vacillated between the representation of happiness and the accidents of life, which could be called reality.”

Taken in the pre-digital years, you’d most likely never get these now – the delete button has put paid to that…
