Quote of the day: Karl Lagerfeld

“No smoking here”
Karl Lagerfeld

Lagerfeld is a PR genius. Love this WWD story of him handing out sketches of a tuxedo to editors garnished with the words ‘no smoking here’, a reference to YSL’s tuxedos and a confidence in Chanel’s own house codes. “We don’t have to do smoking,” Karl told said editors, “Hedi Slimane does it really well.”

I really need to hurry up and get my hands on the Thakoon for Nars nail collection. Inspired by Indian festivals (when is Tim Walker going to do a Holi-themed shoot?), there are six of these searing bright colours to try. (Hmmm, in the UK the red is mysteriously missing…) [EDIT: OK Hafsa just pointed out in the comments that the red is exclusive to the Nars site. Clever!] Continue reading

LANCOME HYPNOSE DRAMA MASCARA AND BI-FACIL EYE MAKE-UP REMOVER

I have to say, Glossybox is coming up with the goods month after month. As I wrote in a post for Glamour a while ago, the main pull for me is the practicality of all these miniature products. I admit I’m not fussy about mascaras but I do love this mini Lancome one with its wavy brush. On a separate note, I’ve also just started using Lancome Bi-facil eye makeup remover. Continue reading

Vans go wild

These YSL Vans-style shoes are all sorts of fabulous. Back in their hey day, Vans were quite often produced in the maddest, campest prints and colours, it all went with the punk-surf territory. But YSL aren’t the first to do a punk-luxe skate shoe – remember the Giles Deacon Bottega Venetas of 2000? Electric pink and black leopard print canvas with clutch bags to match – ah yes, I remember them well. Continue reading

On man bags, Mr Porter and fashion versus function

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

A while ago I read a statistic that stayed in my head. It predicted that sales of man bags (in the US) would increase by 23% by 2013. Well here you go, with the launch of Mr Porter, the menswear market has stepped up a gear and as with womenswear, accessories are looking to account for rather a large portion of market share.
