Next weekend is set to be jam-packed with activity from a double whammy of Vogue Festival and Photo London. Vogue Festival in partnership with Harrods, is in its fifth year now and I think the line-up for next weekend is its best ever. I guess that’s to be expected though, when it’s also a celebration of 100 years of British Vogue. I’m particularly excited about the interviews with Grace Coddington, Juergen Teller and Gucci’s Allesandro Michele, all unique creatives who aren’t overexposed as media personalities. (more…)

So did you spend the last few days fretting about the new Instagram algorithms? Ahhhh, me too. But it’s important, right? How can we make serendipitous discoveries when Instagram insists on controlling what we see? Example: the picture above, a detail from one of Dan Witz’s paintings, which I just stumbled upon on Instagram yesterday (thank you @ByronesqueVintage). Must see: Vogue 100 A Century Of Style

While all the fashion chatter of the last two weeks has revolved around the subjects of fashion week and fashion media and their relevance in the social media age, an interesting exhibition has opened at the National Portrait Gallery to slow the conversation right down. Vogue 100: A Century of Style is a celebration of 100 years of Vogue, the iconic print magazine whose images (photos and illustrations) continue to wield huge influence on style and culture.

Why go to an exhibition showing cult Vogue images when you can see them most any day flashing up on Instagram, Tumblr or Pinterest? The answer to me is simple. (more…)
