WATCH THIS: Disneyrollergirl in ‘Style Xiu’ for Ebay China

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Late last year, I spent a freeeezing morning filming this great video with NeochaEDGE – one of a series of three, produced to launch eBay Xiu in China. The videos, ‘Style Xiu’, followed a Chinese stylist, designer and blogger on their travels to London, Paris and New York, discovering style and fashion across the globe.

As a regular contributor to eBay UK’s Style Collective blog, this video features me being interviewed by the charming stylist and author, A Quiqui, in which we discuss London style, vintage finds and the joys of eBay shopping (obvs), surrounded by the creative chaos of Spitalfield’s excellent Thursday vintage market. My favourite thing about this video though, is the beautiful photography of London’s landmarks and scenery. Enjoy…

As part of its series ‘Creative Minds’, Imagine Fashion has featured probing interviews with Dennis Freedman, Susie Bubble, Scott Schuman and Constanza Pascolato. Oh and me (interviewed by Godfrey Deeny at the beautiful Couturelab store). Click here or watch below…

You’ve been Tonned

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Love this Style.com video on Tommy Ton. It’s interesting how he mentions that one of his favourite things is seeing his work appear on Tumblr because he likes to feel his pictures have inspired someone – I’ve been wondering how photographers feel about seeing their work reproduced on blogs without the syndication fee.

A friend told me a great story about Ton after last London Fashion Week. My friend got followed for several blocks by a ‘team’ of photographers after coming out of Somerset House. At first the incessant clicks didn’t bother him, but after five minutes he stopped and asked who they were shooting for. It turned out to be Tommy and his cohorts shooting for various international GQs. But the funniest bit was that my friend wasn’t wearing anything particularly ‘fashion’, in fact his denim jacket had a big tear in the sleeve. But it transpired that this tear was the exact detail that he was being pursued for. A few hours after laughing at this story, I noticed I’d posted a link to this Tommy Ton for GQ.com gallery on my Facebook page two days previously. And of course there, in all its glory was the prized picture. No face, no outfit, just a close-up of a hole in a sleeve. That’s dedication for you!

Colourful cuts from Victorinox

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

As a lover of paper, cutting shit out and cutesy knick knacks, I’m all over this Victorinox Tomo Swiss Army knife (that was sent as a gift – thank you!). A collaboration between the classic knife brand and Japanese designer, Kazuma Yamaguchi, the Victorinox Tomo comes in a rainbow of colours and weighs literally nothing.

In my package was a Rob Ryan stencil and special Japanese stencil paper but I think the best thing is this accompanying video – inspirational, no?

Mulberry’s global push

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Could Mulberry be any more like the British version of Marc by Marc Jacobs (well, creative director Emma Hill did used to work there)? The youthful styling, the quirky branding, the cult status handbags, the It Girl following … it’s certainly ticking all the right boxes. Continue reading
