So London Fashion Week is done and dusted (Do check out my daily highlights HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE) but I’m not quite finished yet. As part of my partnership with Swatch, I’m ending on this roundup of forthcoming AW14 trends. You can also head over to the Swatch Facebook page to watch the videos we filmed at Somerset House… Continue reading
Two days into London Fashion Week and, as with New York, the arctic temperatures are having a definite impact. Not just in what the guests have been wearing at Somerset House (rain ponchos and fur trims outstrip open toes), but on the runway itself. Continue reading
And we’re off! It’s the London leg of Fashion Month and there’s a lot I’m looking forward to. Mother Of Pearl makes its London Fashion Week debut this season, Joseph returns to LFW after years and years and years and Blue Farrier is going to show us what’s up her Issa sleeve. Then there’s Hunter’s arrival on the fashion week stage. Is this another Burberry in the making?
Also new for London Fashion Week is the British Fashion Council’s official partnership with Swatch. If you happen to be around Somerset House from today to Tuesday, you’ll find the Swatch pop-up Patisserie (actually a sweet shop on wheels!) parked on the cobbles, stocked with specially created survival sweets to keep flagging fashionistas’ energies up. Among the bonbons are chamomile-infused calming sweets, Guarana-packed energy sweets and vitamin-filled beautifying sweets.
I’m also partnering with Swatch, reporting trend highlights and video footage throughout the week. All this ties in with Swatch’s latest ‘Pastry Chef’ collection of candy-inspired timepieces. Think maccaron shades and liquorice allsorts-prints – just look at these and tell me they’re not the most saccharine accessory treats you’ve seen this season…

I unearthed this
old vintage Vivienne Westwood Swatch from my archive (AKA a dusty trunk in the bedroom) yesterday to photograph it for a project. When I mentioned it on Twitter it created quite the buzz, possibly because I discovered people are now listing ir for £300+ on Ebay. My watch probably cost about £50 twenty years ago which I guess was still a lot of money ‘in them days’. But I would never sell it. In my eyes, this is a design classic – functional, beautiful and statement-making. I just need a new battery…
If you haven’t seen the Postmodernism exhibition at the V&A yet, may I politely suggest you get a wiggle on as it ends in two weeks. I recommend that you go on a Friday evening when the V&A is open ’til 10pm. I went yesterday with Hips Like Boys at 6pm and we practically had the place to ourselves. Continue reading

Does London need another vintage store? Hell yes when it’s Blitz London, a new 5-room ‘vintage department store’ in Hanbury Street, E1. The press release promises all sorts of riches, including new stock every day, an in-store cafe, upcycled furniture, blogger-friendly ‘account managers’ and a mix of reasonably priced and rare vintage finds (hello Swatch watches). Swatch is doing such great things at the moment, it’s no wonder net profits rose 42% last year. New for summer (and just ahead of autumn’s polka dot explosion) is the Swatch Dots and Checks Collection. Continue reading
