Archivist magazine

Just picked up the first issue of Archivist magazine. A beautifully produced ‘book-zine’, it features interviews with curators, designers and educators on their archives. This is so me! Continue reading

Buy it now: Lacoste’s pimped-up polo

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

I’ve gotta say I loved Christophe Lemaire’s luxe sporty aesthetic at Lacoste so I’m glad the new look isn’t that far removed. It has got a leetle bit more of a fashion flourish though, dare I say it’s a teeny bit Carven-ish? Anyway, this pimped-up Lacoste polo is doing it for me from the new Live womenswear line. I would wear it with cropped MIH jeans and my COS coat. But it now on Asos.

Topshop is celebrating ten years of its BFC NEWGEN sponsorship scheme to support emerging British fashion by releasing 20 Tshirts exclusively designed by our most exciting young talent. The T-shirts retail for £30 and will go on sale in stores nationwide and online at Topshop.com, as well as at a pop-up shop in Selfridges and at Somerset House (all profits go to Centrepoint). Some more ss12 ad campaigns I like

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

These aren’t the high profile ones, just some more under-the-radar ones that I really like…

Margaret Howell by Koto Bolofo – a celebration of the brand’s core products, this shot of Marique Schimmel in a classic man’s dress shirt indirectly reminds me of Tilda Swinton modelling the AW10 Pringle menswear collection.

Joseph – don’t know who shot this but I like the clothes and the expression – and slightly cinematic quality of black & white photography

Longchamp with Coco Rocha and a Weimaraner. I thought this looked like an Arthur Elgort photo but it’s by Dane Shitagi. Love all the colours

Radley starring Laura Bailey in her own clothes, styled by Katie Hillier. I’m not generally a Radley fan but I love Laura Bailey’s look and what they have done with this campaign

Mr Hare footwear fantasies

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Oh la la, I would do anything to get my hands on these Mr Hare candy pink monk shoes (thanks 00o00 for the heads-up). Alas, Mr Hare doesn’t do girls’ sizes so I shall just have to pine in silence. Maybe it’s just as well though, if he did I’d be torn between those and these

More Ellen Von Unwerth…

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

More Ellen Von Unwerth cuteness. This is a video to accompany the Wheels & Doll Baby ad campaign. Love the silent movie vibe (and the matchy dress-and-headscarf look)…

High spec high street ad campaigns: River Island

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Topshop, H&M, Mango, they’re all at it with their boldface photographers and supermodel ad campaigns. Latest to join Josh Olins, Terry Richardson et al in the high street ad campaigns camp is Ellen Von Unwerth for River Island. Continue reading

Best buy: H&M socks

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

If you love the fine-rib-socks-and-wedges look for spring (as I do), then here’s a recommendation for you. H&M have the best socks on the high street. I’m still wearing the long ribbed fuchsia and grey socks I bought years ago and they have kept their shape, haven’t worn through at the heel or toe and – the best bit – don’t wriggle off your feet when you’re wearing boots. I dont actually wear wedges but I’ve just bought this pack of 2 silky ankle socks in porridge (to wear with my tan Church’s brogues) and rust (to clash with my emerald Kurt Geiger T-bars). And of course I couldn’t resist the wee plastic Minnie Mouse-shaped box as a(nother) knick knack holder for my desk…

Guest post: Best menswear buys from Mr DRG

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Living with a fellow of rather refined tastes means I get a lot of ‘why don’t you blog about this?’ emails. So I decided to ask D do write a guest post. After much scrolling through Mr Porter et al, he has picked his favourite menswear buys below, along with a line or two of commentary. Enjoy!

New in this week

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

This week’s New Ins are heavy on pinks and peaches. I’m more of a grey-and-denim-with-a-side-of-khaki girl but I’m making a big effort to get over that this year and lighten up…
