ESSIE’S NEW COLOURS
Essie’s Fall 2012 collection is about to drop on BeautyBay.com. My favourite shade is this bewitching bottle green called Stylenomics, which will look gorgeous against any shade of pink. The cube of four minis will retail at £11.95 and the single bottles £8.50

On Chanel’s Covent Garden beauty pop-up and the Disneyfication of luxury retail

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Latest in the rebranding of Covent Garden is Chanel’s new standalone beauty pop-up, a make-up mecca that will be in situ between now and the end of the year. It’s the first of its kind for Chanel in Europe and suggests they’re trialling the concept for a more permanent set-up. Why Covent Garden? “It’s a light-hearted, fun destination,” I was told, although being positioned slap bang at the entrance of the Piazza and also along the same drag as Apple, Burberry Brit, Rugby Ralph Lauren and Opening Ceremony on King Street (AKA, London’s new shopping destination) sounds much more strategic than that. Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out: The Lowdown (plus my contribution)

What am I looking forward to on Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out? Jeez, where to start? At the Vogue bloggers’ preview last Wednesday morning, I chatted to Alex Shulman and what seemed like half the Vogue staff about their magnificent plans for September 8th. Continue reading

Nail news: !!Ellesse!! !!Wah Nails!! !!Sophy Robson!!

Ellesse Wah Nails
This summer is shaping up to be quite the celebration of all things Italian. Prada’s IPO, Firenze4Ever and Versace dominated June, while so far, Masters of Style and Dolce & Gabbana (just launched their own etail site and now stocked at Net-a-Porter and Mr Porter) have taken over July. This weekend sees more Italia loving with the Ellesse heritage pop-up boutique (at 77 Redchurch St, E2) screening stylish Italian movie classics. Adding to the fun, Wah Nails will be on hand to add some suitably colourful cheer to your nails with a special menu of Ellesse-inspired designs (above).

In other nail news, the one woman dynamo that is Sophy Robson has only gone and developed a range of nail art in collaboration with OPI and Sephora! There are also nail art ‘recipes’ and how-to videos as part of the package. How ‘wow’ are these cherry blossom nails?

Diesel does dayglo

Posted on by Disneyrollergirl

Exciting news just in this week that my blog buddy Sophy Robson is doing the nails for Jeremy Scott at LFW. There is definitely a nail thing going on in London right now, and no event is complete without its nail artists in situ. Last week I was tempted down to the Diesel Flash for Fun launch (its glow in the dark collection that lands next month), not by free jeans and tees but by a free day-glo manicure courtesy of WAH Nails.

Not only were the nail artists sweet and super-creative (no French manicures here) but something about the whole shebang with the little toy-like plastic fans on the tables (to dry the nails) and general hubub made the event far friendlier than your average hifalutin fash bash. Well, that and the fact it was held at the Dalston Superstore.

In the basement you could see the clothes in action, glow-in-the-dark stitched jeans reminding me of Helmut Lang’s 1990s reflective dresses and trousers – *looks off wistfully into the middle distance* – anyone else remember these? But truly, the most fun was had upstairs where you couldn’t move for fash-bloggers – Isabelle O’Carroll, Fred Butler, Jaiden James and Rasharn Rva included. Honestly, the only fash-blogger missing was Miss Sophynails herself!
