Isabelle Huppert – yes she Cannes

Isabelle Huppert wearing Saint Laurent by Anthony Vacarello at the Kering dinner, Cannes 2017

I never look at red carpet dressing, but I’ve just had my inbox flooded with pictures from the Cannes party circuit. What was Kristen Stewart’s stylist thinking with that bizarre Chanel contraption? And Rihanna’s with this Adam Selman upholstery?

While it was sad to see some of my favourite French actresses looking trashy af in Saint Laurent by Anthony Vacarello at the Kering dinner, the situation redeemed itself thanks to Isabelle Huppert.

Here she is looking spectacular but not try-hard in a floor length Saint Laurent ivory crepe gown with draped and pleated waist detail and a black leather belt.

The black mani and immaculate red lip are equally sublime.

Classic summer sale steals from Net-a-Porter

Classic pieces to buy in the Netaporter sale including this Burberry trench coat

If you thought classic things never go in the sale, you can think again. And you can thank me later for trawling through Net-a-Porter‘s 457,805 sale inventory*. Accessorise with Miu Miu’s coordinating cat-eye sunnies (now £114). (more…)

THE DRG STYLE INDEX: VETEMENTS, SAINT LAURENT, COMME DES GARCONS, TOPSHOP, MULBERRY

It’s been a busy week for fashion with Vetements, Comme des Garçons and Saint Laurent dominating the feeds. And a sad loss for design with the shocking news of the passing of architect Zaha Hadid. Here’s my latest DRG STYLE INDEX ranking, rounding up the brand stories that grabbed my attention…

1. THE OTHER GVASALIA
Vetements CEO Guram Gvasalia of Vetements interviewed by Sarah Mower
“Today, I don’t consider Louis Vuitton to be a luxury brand. Yes, the quality is luxury, but if you can go to the store and get whatever you want, it’s not luxury.” Guram ‘brother of Demna’ Gvasalia, the CEO of Vetements, was interviewed by Sarah Mower two weeks ago, giving a candid insight into the nitty gritty of fashion and retail. 1Granary published the best bits… (more…)

THE DRG STYLE INDEX: GRENSON X NEW BALANCE, SAINT LAURENT, CHARLOTTE CHESNAIS, JUUN.J

Here’s the latest weekly DRG STYLE INDEX ranking, a round-up of the brands currently buzzing on my radar…

1. GRENSON X NEW BALANCE REINVENT THE 576
Grenson X New Balance

The Grenson X New Balance men’s trainers that were unveiled at LCM get my tick of approval. They slightly remind me of when Hermes first did its ‘Quick’ trainer, an understated tan running shoe that was copied far and wide. I love that this is also a classic running shoe style; it’s my favourite 576 model reinvented in a rich Italian grade A calf-skin leather. (more…)
