Liberty newness

Richard Quinn X Liberty SS18 via Ten Magazine

Three exciting pieces of Liberty news. London Fashion Week saw a great collaboration between newcomer Richard Quinn and Liberty fabrics, with models swathed head to toe (literally) in exaggerated maximalist florals. Lots of brands collaborate with the Liberty print studio but this is the first time I have seen the print deconstructed as boldly as this. See more here.

LFW also saw the launch of Bella Freud’s fragrance, Psychoanalysis. I think it might be my favourite yet, a blend of neroli, petitgrain and cedarwood with an addictive musky dry down. I love the intellectual branding around this one. The launch campaign was centred around an illustrated fanzine that gently pokes fun at fashion neroses. Buy it here.

On the subject of illustration, if you’re heading to Liberty, don’t miss its mini ‘food hall’, next door to the perfumery. A tribute to Arthur Liberty’s passion for hunting out the best suppliers, it’s a celebration of indie mirco-producers whose chutneys, chocolates and teas have been wrapped in specially illustrated packaging masterminded by branding agency & SMITH. My favourites are the Buttermilk fudge and the Pump Street Bakery chocolates, both illustrated in colourful, naive graphics (below). I usually get my festive foodie treats from Fortnums because I love the ambience in there, but this little Liberty destination has a similar sense of charm and discovery. See more here.
