My, what a week for Dior! The Cruise 2017 show was a mammoth feat of production (yes, I did follow the entire shebang via various influencers’ Snapchats), there’s a possible new designer announcement imminent (hint: Valentino’s Maria Grazia Chiuri – hope it’s true) and the four-floor Bond Street maison finally opened its doors. Dear LVMH, please can you slow it down with the store openings, exhibitions, out-of-the-way fashion shows and, well, everything else? I’m breathlessly trying to keep up. Next week is the Dior Cruise show and the long awaited re-opening of its Bond street flagship, this week was Cannes, Vuitton Cruise and a rather excellent exhibition opening in the LV Bond Street Maison.

Louis Vuitton’s The Art of the Journey is a must-see if you love product design innovation. It spans the entire store, with exhibits starting in the usually-only-for-VIPs top floor private apartment and working their way down. (more…)

How to buy an Hermes fragrance

There are many ways to buy an Hermès fragrance. In department stores, at airports, online. But for the best experience, in keeping with the poetic Hermès approach, I’d recommend buying from an Hermès store. This way, you get personal service (hunt out the charming perfume ambassadors in Bond Street, and Sloane Street) and get to experience all the delightful little Hermès touches, of which of course, there are many. (Here’s one I experienced: when I tested the scents, they were sprayed onto an Hermès ribbon, which was then tied to my wrist. Fabulous, no?) (more…)
