Julie de Libran is warming up in her new role as creative director of Sonia Rykiel. I’m rather taken with these shots of the Sonia by Sonia Rykiel pre-fall 2015 collection, a slightly boyish offering of military-influenced separates and coats.
My main standouts are the khaki shirt and trousers, while the coat has a whiff of Carven in its tailoring and embellishment. The blush pink quilted jacket is a great foil to the utility pants and a nod to classic Rykiel. And there’s always a place in my life for a ribbed knit in olive drab…
Deconstructing the Céline Pre-Fall 2015 collection is no bad way to spend a morning. The idiosyncratic signatures are all present and correct with the mohair shell top under belted wool tabard my main standout, along with the frayed, too-short trousers and loose leather harness (more…)
The coats! The coats! The Dior pre-fall 2015 pics are in and it’s all about the coats. And they’re not prissy couture coats either but outdoor-friendly(ish), utility-luxe offerings for rainy walks on the Welsh hills or motorbike rides around Tokyo. Or so we’re led to believe.
I love the storm coats in shiny Stone Island-esque materials for chucking on and off, and especially the wet-look A-line zippy affair juxtaposed with snazzy sequins (sorry, pailettes). And when the familiar Dior structured cuts come into play, they’re reimagined in a younger, streetier finish than we’re used to. (more…)
Burberry is still all about outerwear for me. The Burberry Prorsum pre-fall 2015 collection is heavy on voluminous, textured coats and slim bottoms and I’m noticing a big focus on furry-looking shearlings that are casual, cosy and effortless-looking. I’m also a sucker for a too-short sleeve. Yes please. (more…)
