Big news for photography buffs and collectors; Somerset House is hosting London’s first international photography fair, Photo London. It’s like Frieze for photography, or so I’m reliably informed, and will include up to 70 of the world’s biggest photography galleries, as well as exhibitions and an impressive programme of talks (speakers confirmed include Steve McCurry, Stephen Shore and Mitch Epstein). As with last season, Mrs Prada ponders the relationship between men and women, showing both menswear and womenswear on the same stage for Prada AW15. “What are the unexpected possibilities, the various relationships that may occur between the way men and women can or would dress? The way they represent themselves? This is a subject always under investigation.”
My main takeaways from the Prada menswear AW15 show are bare legs and bovver boots (for girls) and Paul Weller hair (for boys). Plus, who’s going to be first to wear their sleeves turned up just so…? (more…)
I always like the sneak previews of womenswear that Prada shows on its menswear runway. As the men’s collections are shown a full three months ahead of women’s it gives us a good idea of the direction, not just for Prada but for fashion overall*.
This collection led us back to Miuccia’s 60-70s roots, with a more everyday look than her sometimes fantastical offerings. It also reminded me a lot of 90s Prada. The camel sweater, rigid denim and crystal-adorned slingbacks get my vote… (more…)
