Save the date for 20th April, when The Shop At Bluebird’s new department store style venue (complete with sunlit central atrium and rooftop terrace) will open in an old coach station venue, recently renovated by Covent Garden property management firm CapCo. The new Floral Street location called Carriage Hall will open with a brand new Jigsaw next door and count designer stores including Kent & Curwen, Agnes b and Paul Smith as upscale neighbours. I’ve read two articles about Hedi Slimane this week. One is a very long interview by Dirk Standen on Yahoo Style, and the other is a critique by Alex Fury in The Independent. Both are very good but I had to disagree with Fury’s negative assessment of Slimane at Saint Laurent. (more…)

1. US VOGUE.COM GETS BLOG-IFIED

The New York Times ran a story last week ahead of the revamp of Vogue.com. It pointed out that The Cut gets four million monthly unique visitors against Vogue’s 3.3 million. Cue last Wednesday’s big reveal for the newly redesigned Vogue.com. The result? It feels younger, pacier and as Manrepeller pointed out, more bloggy. (more…)



Personalised fashion: the update



1 3X1-custom-jeans

So have you been wondering how my 3X1 custom jeans turned out? Well I hope you like details because there’s a lot to take in. After my appointment at Selfridges with the 3X1 team at the beginning of August in which they let me modify their W2 Boyfriend jean with my choice of denim, thread, pocket details, buttons and zips, I took delivery of the finished article four weeks later. Like my Smythson experience, the choice was quite overwhelming at the time but the results are nothing short of superb. (more…)
