THE DRG STYLE INDEX: CHANEL, BURBERRY, J.W.ANDERSON, BLAZÉ MILANO

Here’s the latest weekly DRG STYLE INDEX ranking, a round-up of the brands currently buzzing on my radar…

1. MEET CHANEL’S NEW BOY.FRIEND WATCH
Chanel BOY FRIEND WATCH

Big news for Chanel – there’s a major new watch arriving in September, to accompany its other signature styles, the ceramic J12, and the chain-strapped Premiere. The Boy.Friend (named after Boy Capel – get it?) is extremely good looking and comes in both large and small sizes. (more…)

Lightweight knits for Spring

What to wear when it’s spring, sunny but chilly in the shade? I default to merino knits that are lightweight but warm and don’t pill up like fluffy cashmere. And denim of course, but I’m looking beyond just jeans to all the clever shapes that have emerged in stiff deep indigo, or gentle chambray blue.

Some of my best merino wool finds come from the men’s department, especially Reiss, whose menswear is brilliant right now, while Paul Smith menswear has lovely extra fine merinos is gorgeous colour palettes. J.W. Anderson is another find, and Vivienne Westwood’s knits are all-year perennials. I can’t not mention my favourite Sibling sweater right now, featuring Madonna in the ‘Borderline’ days. Hell yes please to that.

Denim-wise, Joseph is killing it with its structured shapes in classic sky blue – a bit offbeat but still very wearable. And MIH Jeans just gets better and better – I’m still obsessed with this kimono jacket

First look: J.W. Anderson Resort 2015

Who needs Tumblr when you have Instagram? J.W.Anderson posted his entire Resort 15 collection on Insta yesterday and proved he can do commercial just as well as experimental. My commercial highlights are the trench coats, the diagonal stripes, the twinset and the boxy Harrington. And please check out the pockets on those trousers…

Buy it now: AW13 first drop

As is the rule, the hottest British weather is accompanied by fresh in-store deliveries of, well, knits, boots, scarves and socks. So here are my picks of the new autumn collections that you could wear now, after sundown should you so wish (although ideally not all at once). My vote goes to the Carven sweater and Matthew Miller ‘Born To Fail’ men’s top – especially teamed with J.W. Anderson’s ample skirt. Plus a bit of equestrian detail (on the Village England bag – new label alert!) is always welcome for the summer-autumn switchover…
