THE DRG STYLE INDEX: ALEXANDER MCQUEEN THE MOVIE, J.W. ANDERSON, LOUIS VUITTON, SEPHORA

Here’s the latest weekly DRG STYLE INDEX ranking, a round-up of the brands currently buzzing on my radar…

1. ALEXANDER MCQUEEN, THE MOVIE
Alexander McQueen by Nick waplington

So an Alexander McQueen biopic has been announced which should be very interesting. I can’t imagine it’s an easy film to get made, so many people to keep happy. You want to tell a compelling story but equally you need the notoriously protective family, friends and Kering gatekeepers to comply. (more…)

LFW SS16 Highlights: Day 1 and 2

Le Kilt ss16

Is there any point in doing daily LFW roundups in these days of Instagram coverage and watch-it-yourself Periscope shows? Hell, yes, if only for the reason that it reminds me of what I’ve seen when it comes to pitching to clients in six months three weeks time.

I’ll admit I’ve been easing into LFW slowly for the first two days, but I’ve already seen lots to whet my SS16 appetite. Happpily, I’m noticing a lot more colour and joy, bringing us out of the #liveclean minimalism we’ve experienced for so many seasons, into something more energetic.

Buy it now: New in for autumn

JW Anderson spoon pendants

It’s a bit cloudy today so I’m doing a new-in autumn shopping round-up. Starting with these stunning J.W. Anderson spoon pendants (above). These have just gone into Selfridges and J-W-Anderson.com – How delicious do they look? Also piquing my interest are the shoes and loafers from Dries Van Noten and Paul Smith, which I would wear with grey wool socks and my cropped tailored Joseph trousers.

Knitwear is a bit of a fetish of mine and the best bits tend to get snapped up fast. I love the school uniform colours of the Valentino sweater and the Marni mustard ombre menswear knit. Either would be a nice partner to the Dolce & Gabbana sheer tie neck blouse. Finally, you can’t go wrong with a camel coat – this one from Isabel Marant is relatively affordable at £620…
