Rethinking a casual staple

I don’t know if life is one big algorithm now, but these hooded cagoules seem to be following me around online and IRL.

The seed was first planted last summer via a pinky-orange Loro Piana number in a Harper’s Bazaar editorial. So un-utilitarian, so unexpected, so cool! Then the eau de nil cocktail cagoule from Carven SS24 (below) captured our hearts with its audacious banana sleeves and heavy satin drape. My friend Magazine Fan alerted me to Iconic Focus (what a great name), the model agency that now represents one of my favourite 90s models and others of a similar life stage. This Gap shot (above) was always a favourite. And here she is now… (more…)



Wishlist: A Child Of The Jago’s buffalo bowler

After years of being bodyconned to death, I’m soooo glad to see fashion taking a looser sportier turn. The nostalgia for the 80s/90s buffalo-grunge-androgyny years is certainly helping (although don’t mourn bodycon too much if you’re a fan, it’ll be back in a jiffy for sure).

Alongside the looser, boyish silhouettes, I’m drawn to these Fagin-esque A Child Of The Jago hats. This is the Buffalo Stance shoot in the current Vogue, a kind of buffalo-meets-hard-times-meets-Galliano mash-up in which A Child Of The Jago’s bulbous Wild Bill bowler features in every shot. (more…)
