On Friends, Food, Family… (ok, mostly food)

I can’t complain. London’s had one of the best and longest summers of recent years, with endless hazy sunshine stretching all through September. Utter bliss! But now it’s about cosying up and hunkering down and for many that means food, friends and family.

Just after London Fashion Week, I went to the launch of Sasha Wilkins’ (aka Liberty London Girl) clever new book, aptly called Friends, Food, Family. It’s full of Sasha’s legendary (if you follow her blog or tweets) comfort food recipes including triple-layer lemon cake, halloumi, avocado and chickpea salad, and fried gnocchi with mozzarella and tomatoes (yes, lots of veggie options). Matte or glow? Two new foundation favourites

This has been a big year for foundation launches but I still haven’t found a match for my holy grail Myface Mymix which is down to its final squirt.

Close though is Burberry’s Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid foundation (£35). Can I be honest? I wasn’t entirely convinced by Burberry’s beauty ambitions at first, so I tested this with lowish expectations. Readers – it’s a keeper. The texture is a moisturising satin fluid that comes out of a pump bottle (which is wayyy too big but I’ll let that pass). (more…)



Highlights from Hermes SS15 at Paris Fashion Week

The end of a lovely chapter at Hermes ss15. I’ve enjoyed Christophe Lemaire’s vision at the house but I’m champing at the bit to see what Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski has in store too. Some called Lemaire’s final collection for Hermes a palate-cleanser* from the 70s overload seen pretty much everywhere else. (more…)
