Last season Topshop took the chance to turn London Fashion Week into a shopping opportunity. This season, Ebay is jumping in with an online pop-up shop to support Henry Holland. As part of the British Fashion Council’s Fashion Forward initiative, Ebay is supporting Mary Katrantzou, Louise Gray and House of Holland with sponsorship, as well as live-streaming their SS13 shows on its Style Collective blog (where – ahem – you can also read some of my fashion musings). As a logical tie-in, it’s also selling an edited selection of House of Holland AW12 on Ebay.co.uk from today until 18th September, with each purchase sent out with a pair of Henry Holland’s phenomenally popular tights.
Gotta say it, this is a great example of 360° thinking; a neat way to bring the buzz of LFW directly to fashion-hungry shoppers while driving sales to Ebay and House of Holland. OK, you can’t buy the SS13 collection straight off the runway (to my knowledge) but maybe we’ll get that by next season.

Here’s a great execution of a luxury trend that ticks two boxes – playful luxury and what The Future Laboratory calls ‘netstalgia’. Nina Ricci has released four animated GIFs designed with Jo Ratcliffe to launch its AW12 La Rue handbags. Although I must admit the bags aren’t really my taste, I absolutely love the GIFs which are charming and playful yet absolutely retain the aspirational whiff of luxury…
My first introduction to German etailer Zalando came via Uslu Airlines make-up. Trying to find an online stockist for some nail polish a year ago led me to this multi-brand site that also sells a mind-boggling array of international fashion labels. Now, alongside the likes of Equipment, Filippa K, Moschino and Sonia by Sonia Rykiel, it also boasts its own in-house line, Zalando Collection. So that’s it. Summer’s over and whether we get an Indian summer is highly debatable. Time to crack on with autumn then, and gorge on the new Toast catalogue. As always, the art direction, photography, casting and styling are spot on. Boo George’s photography has a dreamy, hazy, wholesome quality reminiscent of 80s French Connection catalogues when the locations were vast and lush. Continue reading

As a self-confessed knitwear addict, aw12 is looking most exciting – may I draw your attention to Rochas and Acne for starters? I’m also happy to see so many kilts and mid heels appearing – possibly the after-effects of our Jubilee summer. For the August-to-September transition, I like this Chanel ‘Holiday’ nail polish – an optimistic all-year-round shade that looks like summer in a bottle.

Sad but true: I have the heating on in July. Retailers are taking advantage by pumping out their early fall merchandise – jumpers, jackets and coats – to compensate for the lack of summer pick-up. You can’t blame them, winterwear makes more money than summer because knits cost thrice as much as tees. Ah well, here’s my early fall fantasy shopping list…
